  BEWILDER”MINT”

                                                       By Flay Dinkelbach

Stand aside ol’ pard’ cuz I’m about to saddle an exceedingly high horse. If you haven’t the stomach for super-human snivelry then be warned and back off. I’ve just completed several hours (= five beers) of intense internet research in an effort to comprehend a modern-day phenomenon. Namely: the appalling and repeated misuse of the word “MINT”.

Uh huh, I see that some of you are already clenching your seat cushions….

From my perspective, vintage enthusiasts fall into one of two categories:

GROUP A – These folks understand the definition of the word “mint” and are characterized by a sagging demeanor. They spend hours navigating the e-auction battlefields in search of worthy vintage iron – only to discover conspicuous and rampant deceit. But they are not easily duped. They know the difference between mangy and “mint”, and can smell a rat comin’ up I-95 from a hundred miles away.

GROUP B – These are the rats. They are characterized by their mastery of classified ad misrepresentations. They toss the word “mint” around as if it were a bouquet and we were an eager tumult of bridesmaids. They are the lime-green leisure suits in the World Wide Web’s wardrobe, and they smell like a swill of dumpster meat and English Leather (and here, I am just speculating). To be sure, they either dodge or deliberately bugger the meaning of the word.

HERE!

The 6th Annual Barber Vintage Festival, presented by Michelin,
will be held the weekend of October 8-10, 2010.

The Barber Vintage Festival is a great way to celebrate the motorcycle and the motorcycle
enthusiasm that we all share. The festival offers access to motorcycles and the legends that
made the sport what it is today. Also available is the motorcycle parts swap meet that
can help you locate that part needed to get your latest project back on the road.
Several special programs take place in the museum during this event.

Registration for the 2nd Annual
Mods vs. Rockers, Ft Lauderdale, FL.
October 23rd and 24th 2010 is now open!

The first 150 pre-registrants get a free lunch on the ride on Saturday
along with free long sleeve t-shirt and free goodie bag!
People are already signing up so hurry.
But please, do not sign up if you don't intend to come... that's just
not fair to everyone else! Details about the event and registration at  www.modvrocker.com
Extra T-shirts may be ordered in advance at $15 each.
We love long sleeves as they keep your skin protected in the summer and warmer in the winter.

If you have any questions after visiting the site,
email LMDutton@comcast.net

We will have the route posted soon for Saturday's ride.
Sunday is a bike show with trophies and prizes at
The Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood Florida.
